And the Winner Is...

This election has been one of the most intense to predict as every day it seems the polls teeter-totter a slight amount from the almost-equal middle on which they sit. But we've come to the final stretch; and it might just be that actions are speaking louder than words in regards to the latest in the handling of Hurricane Sandy. President Obama's quick response and effectiveness in keeping the devastation from the storm as minimal as possible are being praised by both Democrats and Republicans alike; most notably from New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, an avid supporter for Mitt Romney, publicly praising the job Obama did in this situation. Meanwhile criticizing attention has turned to Romney's proposed budget plans that would make drastic cuts to FEMA- the very program that has helped millions on the east coast through the hurricane.

But the leadership shown in the disaster is not all that is working in Obama's favor in these final days before November 6th. A new report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics has declared that job growth has actually increased over the past month with 171,000 jobs added to payrolls- which is 50,000 more than had been predicted by economists (npr.org). Job creation has been a big topic in this election, so positive numbers in the time left of Obama's term could be a bonus in his favor for persuading undecided voters.

Speaking of the undecided, Romney has recently taken some heat for not spreading truths throughout the state of Ohio for the sake of his campaign; something that may work against his favor with both the news of the job increase and Obama's response to Sandy. According to msnbc's Rachel Maddow, the Massachusetts Governor told people last week that Jeep manufacturers, who are primarily based in Ohio, were considering moving all the jobs to China. This was publicly denounced, in fact, because Chrysler had just previously announced their plan to expand their business in Ohio and Michigan, and confirmed after this accusation that they had no plans of taking jobs to China in the future. The real criticism behind this story, however, is that instead of apologizing or even leaving the issue alone, Romney responded to this fact-check by buying more Ohio air time to promote the lie in campaign ads on TV and radio; all it would seem in the hopes of stirring up false drama in voters that they could lose their jobs.

Despite everything mentioned in Obama's favor, it seems the race is still too close to call.  I suppose we won't know for sure until November 6th, but in the meantime, we can enjoy the great political humor coming out in these intense few days before voting day.

Some recent political endorsement humor to be entertained by:
Mr. Burns Endorses Romney
Joss Whedon on Romney
(I couldn't find anything recent like these targeted towards Obama... which could also say something in predicting the election's outcome.)

Whatever your choice this November 6th, here's some political food for thought to take with you:

"Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future."
